Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wines

Often referred to as the wine capital of Burgundy, Beaune has played a central role in the region’s wine history for centuries. Located at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the town became a major centre for wine trade and expertise during the 19th century, contributing significantly to the international reputation of Burgundy wines. Today, Beaune remains one of the world's most celebrated wine destinations. Surrounded by renowned vineyards and prestigious appellations, it is also home to the iconic Hospices de Beaune and its famous annual wine auction, one of the most important events in the Burgundy wine calendar. Combining exceptional terroirs, centuries of winemaking heritage and a vibrant wine culture, Beaune continues to embody the spirit and excellence of Burgundy wines.

The appellations of Albert Morot

Rooted in Beaune and extending across some of the Côte de Beaune’s most celebrated appellations, the Albert Morot collection reflects the extraordinary diversity of Burgundy. From Beaune and Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru vineyards to renowned appellations such as Meursault, Pommard, Auxey-Duresses and Bourgogne Côte d’Or, the collection showcases a broad spectrum of Burgundy terroirs and styles.

Each appellation contributes its own identity, offering a broad and authentic expression of Burgundy’s vineyard landscape.

  • Beaune Premier Cru wines form the heart of the Albert Morot collection. The estate cultivates seven hectares across some of the appellation’s most renowned climats, including Les Teurons, Les Grèves, Les Bressandes, Les Marconnets, Les Toussaints, Les Cent-Vignes and Les Aigrots.

Recognised as part of Burgundy’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Climats, these exceptional vineyard parcels are each shaped by their own combination of soils, exposure and microclimate. Together, they showcase the remarkable diversity of Beaune’s terroirs, producing wines defined by elegance, balance and a strong sense of place.

  • Located just north of Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune is one of the Côte de Beaune’s most historic appellations, renowned for producing wines of elegance, freshness and finesse. Within this appellation, Albert Morot cultivates the Clos de la Bataillère, a rare Premier Cru monopole that has been recognised among the area's most esteemed climats since the nineteenth century.

Planted with both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this exceptional vineyard gives rise to distinctive white and red wines that reflect the character, balance and refinement for which Savigny-lès-Beaune is celebrated.

  • The Albert Morot collection also includes wines from some of the Côte de Beaune’s most renowned appellations. Meursault is recognised worldwide for producing some of Burgundy’s most celebrated Chardonnay wines, prized for their elegance, depth and minerality. Pommard holds a distinguished reputation for its structured and age-worthy Pinot Noir wines, making it one of the region’s most iconic red wine appellations.

Completing the collection, Auxey-Duresses offers a more discreet yet highly regarded expression of Burgundy, producing wines appreciated for their freshness, balance and authenticity. Together, these appellations showcase the diversity and prestige of Burgundy’s vineyard landscape.

  • Alongside its village and Premier Cru appellations, Albert Morot produces regional Burgundy wines that express the purity and character of Burgundy’s iconic grape varieties. Bourgogne Chardonnay showcases the freshness, balance and elegance for which the region’s white wines are renowned, while Bourgogne Côte d’Or highlights the finesse and fruit expression of Pinot Noir.

Together, these wines offer an accessible introduction to the Albert Morot collection and the diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs.
